The city of Meizhou is located in southern China in province Guandong and is deemed to be the cradle of the Hakka Culture. South-westward, with a population of 150.000, the municipality Fengshun is well known for its natural thermal springs. An area of approx. 4,000 ha is planned to be developed till 2020.

The urban development concept of the city extension is focusing on health, tourism, and sports. Special assignment therefor was to integrate a thermal bath in a “centerpark”-conception to the natural lake scenery.

Tasks of Diederichs International were:
• Drawing up an adaptable master plan including a suitable macro-structure
• Development of the overall touristic concept
• Laying out a design-concept for the core area including the access area
• Integrating sustainable concepts

Diederichs International won the 6th prize in this competition.
